Useful information

Description

The Imhotep Museum, inaugurated in 2006, presents the site of Djeser, its history and the work of archaeologists who have carried out research into the funerary complex. One room is dedicated to the archaeologist Jean-Philippe Lauer, who devoted his life's work to the Saqqara site, and who was behind the initiative to open this museum. The other rooms contain numerous tombs and mummies discovered in the region, and steles, statuettes and sarcophagi unearthed during digs at the necropolis.
