The first scientific institution in Bosnia and Herzegovina dedicated to the safeguarding of the country's cultural and natural heritage was built in 1885. Restored following the ravages of the war, the museum consists of several pavilions, divided into sections by theme. One of the most interesting is the ethnographic pavilion, where the insides of Bosnian houses have been recreated, along with traditional costumes, and decorations with multiple Serbian, Bosnian and Croatian influences.
