Description
This popular, 323-acre park was 1910 city project that blocked the natural drainage into the lake, exposing an additional 7ft of shoreline for green spaces and a boulevard, but an unanticipated result was the explosive growth of algae, already prevalent in lake waters. Bathers in Green Lake complain of "swimmer's itch," caused by a parasite associated with waterfowl.
