At the end of the 16C, Henri de La Tour d'Auvergne was up in arms that Catholics and Protestants shared the same church, so had a new one built, dating from 1593. Upon the revocation of the Edict of Nantes, the building was returned to the Catholics, who transformed it into a church under the authority of Robert de Cotten, who added a large circular choir in 1688.
