Description

It is built a top a bare crest more than 200m above the sea, a strategic defensive position that the first king of Portugal, Alfonso Henriques, succeeded in taking away from the Moors as early as 1165. From the crenellated walls that surround the cemetery, the view extends over Sesimbra and its port.
