Description

Majestic, magical Angkor Wat remains the most famous of the mountain-temples. King Suryavarman II began its 30-year construction in the 12C. The temple was designed to represent Mt. Meru, the mythical home of the Hindu gods, whose five peaks and Primordial Ocean are symbolised by the five towers of the central shrine and the moat. From its beauty to its harmonious proportions, extraordinary bas-reliefs and bewitching aspara: everything combines to make it a true wonder.
