The painters, Michael and Anna Ancher came to live in the house in 1884. After the death of their daughter Helga, also a painter, in 1964, the house was carefully restored to recreate the atmosphere of creativity that permeated the place at the time of the Skagen School of painters. Furniture, books, easels and paintings are on display.
