Useful information

Description

This museum contains one of Europe's finest collections of gold objects (over 3 000 items dating from 2 000BC to around 1520), on show in the Gold Room. The displays of necklaces and medallions in particular are extraordinary. Equally impressive, on the floor, is the Sigurd carving, dating from the Viking period. The exhibition also includes artefacts from the Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages, as well as objects from the Middle Ages originating from churches and monasteries.
