The largest state park in Oregon at 8,700 acres, Silver Falls offers a variety of features, including a swimming area, equestrian trails, a historic lodge that doubles as an interpretive center, bike paths, picnic grounds and campsites. But, as the name of the park suggests, the waterfalls occupy center stage. The Trail of Ten Falls, a 7mi loop along Silver Creek, takes hikers through deep forest to all ten falls, which range in height from 27ft to 178ft. The trail even passes behind some of the falls, where softer material behind the basaltic lip of the cascades has eroded away. Some of the falls can be seen from viewpoints along the highway.
