Useful information

Description

Originally dating from the 13C, the Sultan Hani has been fully restored to its former glory. This caravanserai is similar to the Agzikara Han in design, its walls dotted with turrets which give the building the air of a fortress. The portal, on the other hand, could come straight out of a palace in the Thousand and One Nights; this Seljuk gem is sculpted with an elaborate display of muqarnas (stalactites), rosettes and interlacing. Once past the first iwan, you come to a small mosque on pillars, some storerooms and rooms for rest. A second iwan stands at the entrance to the large hall, a huge area divided into five vaulted naves where animals were once kept.
