Useful information

Description

In a modern and pared-back space, this superb museum houses almost 3 000 works of art from the private collection of Ishibashi Shojiro, the founder of Bridgestone. The man who invented his first tyre in 1931 collected Western and Japanese art (from the Meiji era onwards) with a rare eye for detail. There is a fine collection of sculptures (by Rodin, Bourdelle, Maillol et al) and paintings (by artists such as Manet, Van Gogh, Rouault, Sesshu, Shikanosuke Oka and Shigeru Aoki).
