Description

The impressive ruins of Bective Abbey, built in 1146 by the King of Meath, Murchad O'Maolsheachlainn, lie in a field grazed by sheep. The abbey was connected to the Cistercian abbey of Mellifont, which it surpassed in importance in the 13C.
