Twice a day the tide rushes up the Salmon River from the Bay of Fundy, causing a wave that can vary from a ripple to several feet in height. What is even more interesting is that this tremendous inrush of water causes a rapid rise in the water level immediately following it. In fact, high tide is reached just over an hour after the arrival of the bore.
