The village, now a historic district, was formerly administered by the Lamaque Mine, one of the main employers in the Cadillac Fault region. The mine shaft, hospital and residence of the mine executives are intact, and the solid log cabins that housed the mine employees are still inhabited. The Cité de l'Or provides guided tours of the Village Minier de Bourlamaque and the surface buildings of the Lamaque Mine; it is also possible to go down into an authentic mining tunnel.
