The Michelin Guide's review
King Philip II himself is said to have designed the classical doorway of the Santo Domingo Convent - with its niches sheltering statues of saints - in the 16C. Visitors enter a lovely courtyard, then the Capilla de los Reyes (Chapel of the Kings), where there is a late 16C altarpiece depicting a Virgin of Hope, as well as Plateresque-style carved stalls.
