Useful information

Description

The park, laid out like an open-air museum, is designed to provide an insight into the business that dominated the life and destiny of so many families in the region, sulphur extraction, carried out here up until 1986. Beyond Pennisi palace, built between 1870 and 1855 by the former owners of the mine, you can see the extraction well and the calcaroni in which the sulphur was separated from its ore. The arcaded galleries with arrow slits are where the molten sulphur ran.
