With three minor routes penetrating to the heart of the Écrins, the Vallouise gives the impression of being a lost valley, but lovers of unspoilt mountain scenery have long esteemed this cradle of sporting climbing. From Vallouise, visitors can climb to Lake Eychauda (2 514m), and the Pré de Madame Carle where the landscape is truly wild, despite the odd larch tree and refuge hut. Two paths lead to the glacier Blanc and the glacier Noir, bearing witness to changes in the alpine climate.
