Useful information

Description

Built by the Dominicans from 1240 to 1430, this is the largest Gothic church in Venice. Its solemn character is derived from its historical role as the doges' pantheon. The impressively spacious and light interior comprises a nave, two aisles, a transept and several chapels, all separated by huge columns. The many masterpieces in this grandiose building include several scenes from the New Testament by Veronese, and the St Vincent Ferrer polyptych by Giovanni Bellini.
