This Art deco square, a Listed Monument, was designed between 1932 and 1935. It is in the heart of the gardens of the abbey, on the ruins of the latter, now the site of the town hall. Note the auditorium, part bandstand, part washhouse, decorated with enamelled sandstone tiles, and the war memorial, whose bas-reliefs depict local trades. There is a beautiful view of the old town from the banks of the Yèvre River, shaded by hundred-year-old trees.
