Useful information

Description

Created by Henry Clay Folger and his wife Emily Jordan in the 1930s, the Folger Library has over 275 000 books and manuscripts from the Renaissance, including 79 of the 240 first editions of the complete works of Shakespeare. Low reliefs illustrating various of the great playwright's scenes decorated the marble façade of this Art Deco monument. Note the large Tudor-style hall and the Elizabethan theatre. Outside, there is a charming Elizabethan garden.
