Useful information

Description

This log structure was completed in 1853 by John Inkster, a wealthy merchant. It is believed to be the oldest remaining habitable house in Manitoba. It lies in the parish of West Kildonan, part of the original Selkirk settlement, and near the site of the Seven Oaks Massacre of 1816. Inkster's store and post office, both furnished with period pieces, stand beside the house.
