The Leyre Monastery clings to the southern face of the Sierra de Leyre, overlooking the Yesa Reservoir, on the road between Pamplona and Jaca. It was on this spot with unbeatable views that the monks of Navarre built what would become one of the most majestic Romanesque monasteries on Spanish soil. By its simplicity and the warm ochre tones of its walls that blend into the surrounding rocks, and by the silence that reigns here, Leyre exudes a unique atmosphere of serenity.
