Description

Built c 1409, Sassenpoort ("Saxon Gate") is the only gate remaining from the town's surrounding wall. It has a brattice and four octagonal turrets with pointed roofs. The gate served as a prison for a long time and today houses a visitor centre that charts the history of the town.
