  The Michelin Guide's review
The Royal High School has an imposing façade, with a column portico surmounted with a pediment. Further down is the Greek temple dedicated to Robert Burns. Skirting round Carlton Hill you will come to the elegant curved run of building comprised of Regent Terrace (1825-1846), Calton Terrace (1820-1860) and Royal Terrace (1821-1860). This residential quarter, rich in decorative and architectural features typical of the new town, was designed by William Playfair
