Civil and military monument
The Michelin Guide's review
It was traditionally occupied by printers, who gave way to specialists in shop window dressing, and stands as evidence of the "Egyptomania" that engulfed Paris upon Bonaparte's return from the campaign in Egypt (1798). A building decorated with two sphinxes, lotuses and hieroglyphics marks the entrance to the Passage du Caire, which is intersected by three galleries.
