Secession Buildings in Prague

Well worth the diversions
Civil and military monument
The Michelin Guide's review
At the turn of the 20C, when Art Nouveau was flourishing in a number of European capitals, a national version known as the Secession movement emerged in Prague using glass, ceramics and ironwork, and floral decorative motifs. The two office buildings on National Avenue, built by Osvald Polívka between 1903 and 1908, are its best illustrations, featuring precise lines and ornamentation that is rich without being excessive.
