Useful information

Description

Wannian Temple, believed to date back to the 4C, is the oldest temple of Mount Emei. The Hall of Bricks, the only one to escape the devastating fire of 1945, is home to a statue depicting Puxian, the bodhisattva of practice and meditation, seated on a white elephant with six gold tusks in the centre of a golden lotus. This huge copper and bronze cast statue (980) provides a priceless testimony to Song art. Rubbing the elephant's hind leg is believed to bring good luck.
