Useful information

Description

The museum was created in 1881 by the Scotsman James Miln. Its exceptional collections grew thanks to Carnac native Zacharie Le Rouzic and range from the Lower Palaeolithic to the early Middle Ages. The number of pieces (burial furniture, jewels, axes, pottery etc) discovered around Carnac since the 19C shows that this region must have been a seat of power in Europe in the fifth millennium. The Bronze Age is also covered, as are Roman times.
