Useful information

Description

A once industrial region with fast growth, the Black Country (Wolverhampton, Walsall, Dudley and Sandwell) has a fascinating history. The museum is made up of a number of preserved buildings, a mine bank, an underground exhibition on the working conditions of a coalmine in the 1850s and a replica of the first steam engine in the world, from 1712, in working order.
