Description
The Sri Dalada Maligawa, in the heart of the royal palace, easily recognisable by its gold roof, is home to the Holy Tooth of Buddha. The relic of the tooth is encased in the 6th casket of a set of chests, all of which are enshrined in a golden reliquary protected by a golden railing. Still fervently worshipped, every Sinhalese Buddhist must come here on a pilgrimage at least once in his or her life.
