Description

The former royal palace is established on the north bank of Kandy Lake. Its white walls contrast elegantly with the dark green forest of Udawattakele in the background. At the centre stands the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic where the left lower canine of Buddha is enshrined. The Elephant Museum is home to the mummy of the elephant Raja, who carried the holy relic during processions for over half a century.
