Useful information

Description

The puppets used in this traditional style of theatre, bunraku, differ from ours by their large size, sophisticated costumes and expressive faces, which have eloquent and carefully drawn features. The tales they recount are inspired by legends and major historical events. Born in the 17C in Osaka, this art has lost none of its vibrancy and Master Yoshida Minosuke III, a living National Treasure, faithfully perpetuates the tradition at the National Bunraku Theatre.
