Description

Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara and its dagoba attract fervent followers of Buddhism, particularly the inhabitants of Colombo from the south. In this temple, that suffered the ravages of history but was finally rebuilt by the kings of Kandy in the 18 and 19C, admire the superb religious art by Solias Mendis. In the shrine of the reclining Buddha, look up at the astronomical motifs on the ceiling, particularly the signs of the zodiac.
