At this spot where the canals meet you can see the image of Peter the Great's dream - a city crisscrossed by canals with palaces and churches reflected in their waters. Pause for a moment on Pikalov Bridge, which affords a view of seven other bridges, and admire the gilded domes of St Nicholas Naval Cathedral. And remember Dostoevsky who once wrote a sentimental novel with these canals, bridges and the soft light of its White Nights as a backdrop.
