Useful information

Description

It was in this townhouse that the greatest poet of imperial Russia, Alexander Pushkin, died in January 1837, a few days after his duel with Georges d'Anthès. Among the documents preserved on the ground floor, you can read the anonymous letter (in French) that triggered the whole incident, in which the writer was anointed "Grand Master of the Order of Cuckolds"! The poet's office and library of 4,000 volumes are in his private apartments upstairs.
