Useful information

Description

Established in 1868, this huge graveyard (6ha) is the resting place of many patriots killed during the wars of independence and the revolution. The most important characters in the history of Cuba, and especially that of the Oriente region, lie in the shadow of the national flag. They are all there, reposing in a spectacular and emotive setting: Emilio Bacardí and (reunited in a pantheon resembling a small fort) the veteran comrades Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, Pedro Figueredo, José Martí... and Fidel Castro.
