Although it has been remodelled several times, the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Virgin, sheltered inside the Suzdal kremlin, has preserved many elements from its construction in the 13C, including small columns, arcades and masks of women of Asian inspiration. The white tufa with which it was built creates a striking contrast to the five blue domes with stars. Its particularly admirable 13C Golden Doors attest to the skill of the artists who used fire-gilding on nielloed copper.
