Description

Campo Sant'Angelo is often overlooked by tourists as they rush from Piazza San Marco to the Academy or vice versa. And yet, in the evening the palazzi alongside the canal paint a theatrical and evocative picture. Note in particular the Oratory of the Annunciation, the old school for invalid sailors, and Palazzo Duodo where the musician Domenico Cimarosa died in 1801. The square also boasts fine views of Santo Stefano's leaning bell tower.
