Description

This 16ha pool was dug by Swiss guards to extend the perspective from the Orangerie to the foot of the Satory hills. In the background, the equestrian statue of Louis XIV by Bernini displeased the king: this royal effigy was transformed into Marcus Curtius, a Roman hero, by François Girardon, and found itself relegated far away from the palace...
