Žilina's parish church, now a cathedral, was built circa 1400 and rebuilt many times. In the 16C Gothic building, Renaissance features were incorporated. This elegant three-nave church houses the main altar of the Holy Trinity dating from 1697. Adjacent to the church, the imposing Burian's Tower (first half of the 16C) stands 46m tall; it was once used as a watchtower and bell tower.
