Useful information

Description

An imposing and austere building steeped in secular history, Fyvie Castle is a striking example of 17C noble architecture. Bought and sold several times over the centuries, its owners included, from 1889, the American steel magnate Alexander Forbes-Leith; it is him we have to thank for the fine collection of paintings (portraits by the Scottish master Henry Raeburn, and paintings by Reynolds and Gainsborough).
